The 4th Islamic Solidarity Games was a multinational, multi-sport event that was held in Baku, Azerbaijan in May 2017. Freya was invited by Phil Hayes, (aerial choreographer for London, Sachi and Vancouver Olympics opening and closing ceremonies), to perform aerial harness as part of a small team in the Baku 2017 opening and closing ceremonies.
In the opening Freya flew 35m high in Baku’s Olympic stadium, suspended from an aerial spiral chandelier that exploded fireworks as she pirouetted. She also operated a pyrotechnic catherine wheel, strapped to the wheel and rotating it as pyro’s flew off in the finale of the show.
In the closing ceremony she was 1 of 6 performers in a spectacular aerial sun structure, flying 35m high, across the stadium in a dazzling choreographed display.
